Appearance

This is Great Harvest's signature bread (with their Honey Whole White) and is available every day (most of their breads are available only on certain days). It comes in a transparent plastic bag, containing a label with the ingredients.

This is a compact loaf, relatively light in color. Scores are visible on top, with what I assume to be baked flour sprinklings. The sides have a nice texture, rich and complex with grain bits.

The loaf feels hefty -- you're getting your money's worth! The bread feels solid but has some give.

The outside smell is quite rich, the honey is very present (it's good to know G.H. is not skimping), and the whole wheat is also very noticeable.

I got my loaf pre-sliced, so obviously no cut needed.

The crumb is fairly dark, with some golden flecks that I assume are bits of honey and grains. It looks dense.

The inside smell is sweet, again honey and whole wheat mixture, and nothing else.

Taste

The consistency is a bit thick, possibly due to the presence of honey. There is a definite, palpable texture, which is a bit grainy. It's not unpleasant, but it is somewhat heavy.

The general taste is rich and quite good. Good honey aftertaste.

Conclusion

Very good bread overall, I think the texture could be improved a tad, I found it just a bit rough (but some might like it that way). Great ingredients, perfect bread if you like it dense and sweet.
