Appearance

The bread comes in a white paper bag with ingredients and nutrition information -- always appreciated.

This is a handsome loaf, with two beautiful scores on top, forming appetizing ridges. Slight flour sprinklings on one end only. The color is dark and rich.

The density of the loaf is above average. The crust is solid but supple, the bread feels quite solid.

The outside smell is excellent, a nice country bread aroma. The bottom smells just a bit burned, which is a good thing (as far as I'm concerned, at least).

The cut was easy, and making nice-looking slices was not a problem.

The crumb is white with a yellowish tint, and some mid-sized bubbles.

The inside smell is nice and a bit sour (as expected), but not strong.

Taste

The crust has a very good consistency, I liked the mouth feel, although my wife thought it was a bit too soft for her taste (but I'm writing the review, so I win). The taste was enjoyable.

The crumb has an excellent consistency, it tastes fresh, and of course sour as it is supposed to be.

Conclusion

Quite nice. This bread stands very well on its own, and can be enjoyed without any addition.
