Appearance
This is the only type of bread available at the Dimond bakery. It is given to you wrapped in a generic white plastic bag. The loaf is soft but overall reasonably firm. Cutting it is not a problem. The loaf I had was a bit misshapen on one side, but looked OK otherwise. The crust is soft, it looks more like a brioche than bread. The color of the crust is nice. The body is soft and fluffy, perhaps a bit too much. The color of the body is white (as one would expect) and satisfactory. The smell of the loaf is OK, but nothing to write home about. Once cut open, the smell does not really improve, which is a bit disappointing. Taste
The crust's taste is a bit disappointing -- the texture is unsatisfying. It is too soft to really have any body, yet it gives a bit of resistance, and tastes too dry. The body is not very tasteful. The consistency is marginal. The taste is a bit sweet, with a hint of sour, but this does not really taste like good bread. The aftertaste is indifferent. Conclusion
The appearance is reasonable, but this bread does not deliver its promise. It certainly would do for anyone who doesn't care about bread, but I cannot recommend it to bread lovers. |
